I'd like to see a pedestrian-friendly trail (similar to the Olympic Discovery Trail) go in along both Hwy 19 from the schools to Ness' Corner in Chimacum.

Thank you for your comment.

Jefferson County Department of Public Works recognizes the need for pedestrian-bicycle facilities within the TriArea. In the recently adopted TIP (Transportation Improvement Program) the department included five related pedestrian-bicycle projects. These five projects are part of a long-term plan to create a non-motorized network that would serve the TriArea by linking Port Hadlock to Chimacum.

The projects are supported not only by current needs of students and residents, but also future needs given anticipated growth within the Irondale and Port Hadlock Urban Growth Area (UGA). The projects are in varying stages as our department continues to seek appropriate funding.

One of the planned projects directly addresses part of your idea by creating a pedestrian-bicycle route from HJ Carroll Park to the intersection at SR 19 and Center Rd./Chimacum Rd. The Public Works Department is diligently searching for funding for design and construction.
